International Day of Education takes place every January 24 and is remembered by millions around the globe, including members of The Light of The World. International Day of Education was created by the intergovernmental organization called the United Nations (UN) as a way to bring attention to the disparities within global education and engage in activism for sociocultural change in order to create a sustainable and equitable world. The UN has released this statement over this year’s vision for the International Day of Education:
“This year’s International Day of Education will be a platform to showcase the most important transformations that have to be nurtured to realize everyone’s fundamental right to education and build a more sustainable, inclusive and peaceful futures. It will generate debate around how to strengthen education as a public endeavor and common good, how to steer the digital transformation, support teachers, safeguard the planet and unlock the potential in every person to contribute to collective well-being and our shared home.”
