Our first responders have some of the most difficult jobs in society. Every day, they encounter and deal with situations that are difficult and stressful. Now, the COVID-19 crisis has made their jobs even more challenging.
This is why The Light of the World congregation in Silver Spring, Maryland recently paid tribute to the hard work of our capital’s first responders by delivering gift baskets to firefighters at Station No. 11 in Washington, D.C. Members of the congregation wanted to honor these national heroes and express gratitude for all they have done to keep communities safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our faith teaches us to respect and be grateful towards those placed by God to protect us,” said Aminadab Coronado, event organizer.
The Light of the World members in Silver Spring collected donated items for gift baskets, including food, candy, and snacks prior to their visit. Along with this token of appreciation, the congregation also treated station officials to a home-cooked meal in celebration of Thanksgiving and offered a reprieve from their tireless efforts.
At the end of the dinner, congregation members promised the firefighters that they would continue praying each day for their health and well-being.
“Prayer is a pillar in faith, and we will pray to God to help protect those who protect us,” said Coronado. “Today we pray for the first responders in our great nation.”
