Holy Supper Celebrated in Australia

Aug 14, 2024 | Holy Supper August 2024

Congregants of The Light of the World congregations from Australia and New Zealand, along with a choir delegation from California, gathered in Sydney from August 12th to the 14th for the Holy Convocation festivities. The festivity began with a joyous Welcoming Ceremony recognizing each congregation’s delegation and culminated in a solemn celebration of the Holy Supper, as instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ in remembrance of His redeeming sacrifice.

On August 12th, brethren gathered early at the venue for the inaugural Welcoming Ceremony, where they were greeted by the solemn hymns of the choir delegation from different congregations in California. The beautiful songs referencing the Holy Supper invited everyone present to praise God for the abundant blessings received.

The ceremony was marked by great joy as the brethren happily welcomed delegations from congregations in Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, as well as international delegations from New Zealand, Italy, and Mexico. As the choir sang “With great joy and pleasure, we meet again,” the attendees exchanged warm and fraternal embraces, expressing their happiness to be present once again at a Holy Convocation.

Throughout the three-day event, in preparation for the celebration of the Holy Supper, brethren gathered in Sydney attended Bible studies. These doctrinal expositions, led by ministers, aimed to strengthen the spiritual knowledge of the attendees. The topics covered during these studies included the significance of the Holy Supper, the love of God, unity, family values, and Christian principles of fraternity.

On the evening of August 14th, the much anticipated Holy Supper worship service began with reverent spirituality and praise to God, honoring the solemnity of the commemoration. The presiding pastor described the biblical testimony of the establishment of the Holy Supper and the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. The moment then arrived to bless the bread and wine for the brethren to partake of, which was done through the Apostolic authority of the Apostle of Jesus Christ Naasón Joaquín García.

The Holy Supper was established by our Lord Jesus Christ as a memorial in remembrance of His redeeming sacrifice. For congregations of The Light of the World, the Holy Supper is the most solemn festivity established by the Lord Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago: “And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’” —Luke 22:19
